In April of this year, Carter manufacturing once again exhibited at the Hannover Messe trade show in Germany. This year was a particularly special year for Carter as it marked 10 years since the company’s first attendance at the show. With more than 5,000 companies exhibiting to 210,000 visitors, Hannover Messe 2018 was another action-packed year enabling Carter to develop prosperous new relationships over the course of the week. 2018 was the first year in which the ‘Industrial Automation’ and ‘Motion, Drive & Automation’ shows were combined to create the ‘Integrated Automation Motion & Drives (IAMD) show. Being the first show of its kind, and one that will now run biennially alongside the original ‘Motion, Drive & Automation’ show, Carter was eager to be an exhibitor at the first ever ‘IAMD’ show. This also means that Carter will be attending the Hannover Messe exhibition grounds on a yearly basis.
For this year’s show, Carter promoted various product ranges, demonstrating the broad scope of Carter’s capabilities. These included Unasis ceramic and hybrid bearings, Napoleon Engineering Services custom aerospace bearings, Silverthin thin section bearings and Unasis slewing rings.
Carter’s hybrid and ceramic ranges always attract a lot of attention at Hannover Messe and this year was no exception. Due to offering superior resistance to corrosion and high temperatures, as well as speed and lifetime improvements, our hybrid and ceramic ranges are always popular with customers struggling to find a solution to their harsh environmental applications. For more information on our ceramic and hybrid bearings, our Designing with Ceramic Bearings and Designing with Hybrid Bearings articles offer an in-depth look at the main benefits and most suitable applications.
Being the master European distributor, Carter also displayed a range of Napoleon Engineering Services (NES) aerospace approved custom bearings. Benefitting from small order quantities, fast lead times and full technical support, the NES range included deep groove ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings, double row self-aligning bearings, needle roller and cylindrical roller bearings. Carter and NES offer bearings with outside diameters ranging from 20mm to 350mm and all come with full ISO9001:2008 and AS9100C certifications. A main focal point of the NES bearings on show at Hannover was the wide range of exotic materials used. 440C, Cronidur® 30, XD15NW, 52100, M50, M50 NiL, Pyrowear® 675 and superelastic NiTiNOL 60 high-life materials and coatings are some of the materials utilised by NES and more detailed information regarding NES can be found on our Napoleon page of our website.
For customers looking for a solution to applications with restrictions on overall weight and space, our Silverthin range of thin section bearings was of high interest. Offering fixed cross sections throughout a range of internal diameters and being readily available in angular, radial and 4-point contact variations, our Silverthin range is the ideal answer to applications that suffer from reduced space and scenarios where weight needs to be kept to a minimum. Our Silverthin Precision Thin Section Bearings page provides information on the range in further detail.
To complete this year’s stand, Carter promoted the Unasis range of lightweight slewing rings. Incorporating Unasis split thin section bearings internally, the Unasis lightweight slewing ring range come fitted with either two 4-point contact split thin section bearings or a single cross roller split thin section bearing. This allows the Unasis lightweight slewing rings to easily withstand axial, radial and moment loads with no issues. Depending on your application, the Unasis slewing rings can be provided un-geared, internally geared or externally geared. This, accompanied with the options of standard steel, stainless steel or aluminium construction, offer a substantial range of variations to perfectly suit your particular application. For more information, see our Lightweight Slewing Rings page.
