Carter Manufacturing Ltd., a leading name in the field of precision bearing specialists, are thrilled to announce the confirmation of a new agreement that gives their USA partner, Carter Americas, exclusive distribution rights for NMB E-Type bearings, for use on suspension components, typical applications being control arms, tie rods and wishbone links.

 

This agreement includes North and South America and allows users competing in NASCAR, Indy Car, and all other motorsport racing to stay ahead by exploiting significant benefits of E-Type bearings, providing them with a massive competitive edge. Customers can also be assured that the exclusivity of this agreement helps with regular stock holding and scheduled deliveries to Carter Americas, reducing any supply chain issues.

 

Carter offers its customers the all-important status of ‘space heritage’, having had direct involvement in the design and installation of bearings, for prestigious aerospace and space projects. Carter's technical expertise and years of experience in the aerospace industry provide a unique approach to the motorsport domain. It is quite evident that the E-Type lined bearings, which were carefully developed in conjunction with Formula One teams, fortify a competitive advantage for all racing formulae.

 

The E-Type bearings are undoubtedly the best solution, for these complex and demanding applications, which are available in sizes ranging from 3/16 to 3/4 and metric sizes. So, what are the main design elements that differentiate them from others?

 

The super finish polish on the E-Type bearings not only gives them a superior look but also helps reduce friction, ensures smooth rotation in all directions, and enables the most stable car with predictable and improved performance. In addition, their proprietary PTFE liner decreases side-to-side movement and deflection under load, along with the capacity to boost a radial load rating by up to 35%, in comparison to other bearings.

 

This liner also assists in boosting the bearings' maximum operating temperature from 121ºC up to (249ºF) up to 180ºC (356ºF), making it a better choice for a component that is typically placed close to a heat source.

 

Furthermore, Carter Americas can also supply all the specialized tools needed to remove used or damaged bearings, replace them with finer ones, and test them to assure performance improvement. For instance, a Swivel Torque Tool tests for both breakaway and swivel torque, which provides users with tangible data, demonstrating not only why E-Type bearings perform better, but also presenting a scientific approach to performance results. Moreover, with the support of this tangible data, proof load testing will determine whether the bearings have been securely installed.

 

The design of Carter cutting tools is created to safely and effectively remove old bearings that have either worn out or are indicating excessive torque levels prior to a race, allowing users to swiftly exchange the bearings to reach optimal torque levels. Additionally, it is widely accepted that using Carter swaging tools is one of the most recommended ways to obtain a constant and uniform swage, without affecting the bearing torque. Therefore, they have proven to be a far better alternative to using ‘standard’ press staking tools, which have a tendency to apply severe loads that can seize the bearings.
