A blocker door, also known as a thrust reverser blocker door, is a component found in the thrust reverser system of some aircraft. It is typically located at the rear of the engine nacelle, near the exhaust nozzle. Blocker doors present one of the most difficult tooling applications on an aircraft. Due to their design access restrictions, standard tools do not fit.
During the landing phase, when the pilot activates the thrust reversers, the blocker door moves into position to block the bypass air flow and redirect the exhaust gases forward. This redirection of the exhaust gases helps to create a reverse thrust effect, which aids in decelerating the aircraft upon touchdown.
