As a Tier-1 bearing supplier, Carter Manufacturing proudly partnered with Boeing to design and manufacture a custom turnkey portable proof load test solution to work with a range of over 30 of their most popular bearings. Erick Sloan, the Chief Operating Officer of Carter Americas, recently hand-delivered this completed project to Boeing to train their team with resounding success.
The proof load test is a mandatory quality control process defined in Boeing process specification BAC5435. It is defined by measuring the axial deflection of the bearing for the housing under a defined load. Should the bearings move more than 0.003 inches in either direction, the bearing installation has failed and the bearing must be replaced. Carter has many novel proof load test solutions and is the leading expert in proof load tools. We have anvil-style tools to interface with a hydraulic press and multiple styles of completely portable tooling solutions for benchtop and on-wing work. A large range of proof load test tools is currently in stock at our US, UK, and Spain facilities for immediate international shipments.
